ZyXEL Picks SafeNet VPN Chip for SOHO Gateway
September 16, 2002 -- Internet security technology provider SafeNet (SafeNet.com) said on Monday that xDSL router manufacturer ZyXEL Communications has picked the SafeXcel-1140 chip for its ZyWALL 50 security gateway, geared toward the SOHO market.
ZyXEL, says SafeNet, will embed the SafeXcel-1140 chip into its ZyWALL 50 box, an ICSA-certified security gateway designed for the small to medium sized business market and capable of handling up to 100 LAN users. ZyXEL chose the SafeXcel-1140 chip for its performance, quality and proven technology
"Extending our reach into the OEM market is a fundamental component of SafeNet's growth strategy." Says Anthony Caputo, SafeNet chairman and CEO. "Not only is the addition of ZyXEL as a SafeNet customer a testament to our high quality silicon solutions, but ZyXEL also adds further depth and breadth to our OEM partnership relationships. Our Momentum Series chips, the newest category of SafeNet chips for broadband and SOHO applications, are being very well received in the market."
Part of the Momentum Series of chips, the SafeXcel-1140 is a sophisticated security co-processor optimized for cost-sensitive designs like routers, firewalls, wireless access points, DSL/cable modems and residential gateways. The chip incorporates security engines for IPSec, and other transforms, basic encryption and a suite of IPSec IKE cryptographic operations.
