WorldCom Debuts VPN Service and Access Options
September 5, 2002 -- Internet communications provider WorldCom (WorldCom.com) announced on Wednesday that it has introduced a set of enhancements to its suite of VPN Services.
WorldCom says the new IP VPN Dedicated solution, IP VPN Remote Access-to-Frame service and high-speed Ethernet and DSL connections help businesses maximize existing networks and enhance productivity.
"There's no such thing as a 'one-size-fits-all' VPN," said Jim DeMerlis, WorldCom vice president of Product Management. "WorldCom continues to deliver the widest range of VPN solutions, enabling customers to capitalize on their existing network infrastructure while unlocking new business capabilities."
The Dedicated IP VPN Services, says WorldCom, is a second dedicated VPN platform, offering customers a wider range of CPE-based IP VPN choices.
The new offering features state-of-the-art routing and 3DES encryption in a single platform to meet public and private IP addressing requirements while ensuring secure performance. Available immediately, the service includes customer premise device monitoring and maintenance, as well as proactive network management.
The new IP VPN Remote Access-to-Frame Service, says WorldCom, allows telecommuters secure access to frame relay networks through the UUNET global IP network, combining the best of public and private networking solutions.
