WavePower.Net to Acquire VoIP System
August 22, 2002 -- The board of directors of WavePower.Net Inc. (WavePower.Net) announced on Thursday that it has formed an agreement to purchase Better Call Home Inc., owners of global marketing rights to a VoIP telephone system that won Internet Telephony’s Product of the Year award this year.
The transaction, subject to the approval of WavePower.Net’s shareholders, is expected to become final by August 30, 2002.
According to WavePower.Net, the VoIP technology will be marketed as TelcoBlue, and will offer rates 40-50 percent lower than those charged by many telephone companies, with voice quality that meets or exceeds international telephony standards.
WavePower.Net says TelcoBlue customers can make telephone calls from their personal computer to another personal computer, from their PC to a regular phone, and from their phone to any phone, using TelcoBlue’s VoIP technology.
In 2002, the technology also won the TMC Labs Innovation Award and Editor’s Choice Award.
