WatchGuard Announces New Firebox Appliances
August 12, 2002 -- Internet security solution provider WatchGuard Technologies Inc. (WatchGuard.com) announced on Monday that it has introduced its new Firebox SOHO 6, Firebox SOHO 6tc and Firebox SOHO 6tc – 50 user models.
The new Firebox SOHO 6 models, says WatchGuard, integrate the company’s SOHO security features with a new custom hardware platform that delivers 75 Mbps firewall and 20 Mbps VPN throughputs. According to WatchGuard, the Firebox SOHO 6 products provide central office management access with 3DES encryption, and can network up to 50 computers.
The devices are high-performance firewall, VPN and broadband sharing appliances for use in small businesses or remote offices. They provide security using stateful packet filtering, application level gateways and Web content filtering.
The SOHO 6 models also come with a mobile user VPN option, providing travelers with DES or 3DES VPN tunneling capabilities and a personal firewall.
"Our new high performance, plug-and-play Firebox SOHO 6 security appliances are redefining the performance and price equation for the low-end firewall/VPN market," said Jean Nassar, Senior Vice President of Marketing. "These SOHO products continue our commitment to the SME and SOHO markets by providing superior security features on a new high performance platform."
