VPNC Issues First Logos for IPsec Interoperability
August 1, 2002 -- International VPN market trade association the VPN Consortium (VPNC.org) announced on Thursday that it has introduced its new program for testing interoperability between VPN systems running IPsec, issuing logos to the first eight products to have passed the interoperability test.
"We are pleased to begin this program with the products of many VPNC member companies having already shown interoperability in the test," says Paul Hoffman, director of VPNC. "Other members have already begun the process of testing, and we expect to issue more Basic Interoperability logos in the near future."
The VPNC member companies’ products to receive the VPNC Basic Interoperability logo are Adtran NetVanta, Ashley Laurent BroadWay ISS, Cisco IOS IPsec, Cyberguard Premium Appliance Firewall Family, eSoft InstaGate, Inoto iGateway family, the NetScreen family of products and the SafeNet family of products.
VPNC says its testing program has been an important source for certification of conformance to IPsec standards. The addition of interoperability testing, says the consortium, gives IPsec users more assurange that the products tested will interoperate in typical business environments. The VPNC says it shows proof of interoperability as well as the steps taken so users can reproduce the tests.
