V-ONE Announces SmartSat Security Solution
December 13, 2002 -- Internet-based network security provider V-ONE Corporation (V-ONE.com) announced this week that it is offering users of VSAT and satellite communication systems an easy way to compare V-ONE's SmartSat security solution to any IPSec offering on the market.
V-ONE says its application level technology can demonstrate dramatic performance improvements versus IPSec. Using pre-configured SmartPass client software available from the V-ONE Web site, the comparison test can be performed over any satellite channel capable of transporting IP traffic in just minutes.
"Users needing to communicate securely via satellite can see first-hand that technology is available today which offers strong end-to-end protection with virtually no performance impact," says James Naughton, V-ONE's director of Satellite Programs. "Providers and users that have tested our solution in their environment experience dramatic performance improvements-usually upwards of 10:1 when compared to IPSec solutions."
V-ONE says its SmartSat program is built on the company's SmartGate security software, which operates at the application layer and is not affected by problems that impact IPSec solutions when they encounter satellite circuit propagation delay. SmartGate takes advantage of satellite networks' protocol acceleration capabilities to overcome space segment latency.
