Verio Employs Computer Associates Security Service
March 25, 2002 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Software developer Computer Associates International Inc. (CA)(ca.com) announced on Monday that VERIO, one of the world’s largest Web hosting companies and a leading IP services provider, will integrate CA’s eTrust security solutions into its hosting services in the European marketplace.
According to the terms of the alliance, says CA, VERIO will offer CA’s eTrust Firewall and eTrust Intrusion Detection to customers interested in protecting critical e-business systems from attack.
The firewall and intrusion detection solutions are part of the sizeable eTrust line of security products, which features 17 security solutions, including anti-virus, access control, VPN and others.
CA says that VERIO chose the company as its strategic security resource because of its position as a leading provider of enterprise security and its flexible, subscription-based model. The model, says CA, will allow VERIO to build service plans that are easily tailored to suit a full range of market segments and customer requirements.
"VERIO's expertise lies in providing enhanced-value products and services that help our customers exploit the power of the Internet, to expand markets, increase productivity and reduce costs," says Moos Bulder, president of VERIO Europe. "CA's flexible licensing of its eTrust solutions suits this strategy perfectly, with eTrust Firewall and eTrust Intrusion Detection offering the comprehensive security service our customers demand from a single, globally-respected vendor. This product group further enhances our business model for Europe, supporting critical applications on large-scale infrastructures."
The eTrust Intrusion Detection monitors for over 350 known attacks, exploits and automatically mounts effective defenses against distributed denial-of-service and other malicious attacks directed at customers’ e-business assets or at VERIO itself. The intrusion detection service also alerts VERIO administrators of any activity associated with network threats like Nimda and CodeRed.
The alliance with VERIO, says CA, builds on the company’s strong relationship in the Asian market with NTT Communications, the company of which VERIO is a wholly owned subsidiary, which has deployed CA technology, including the eTrust product family.
