Vanderbilt University Picks NetSilica EPN
September 12, 2002 -- Secure remote access and data transfer solution provider NetSilica (NetSilica.com) said on Tuesday that Vanderbilt University Medical Center has licensed the company’s enterprise private network (EPN) technology for use in its overall remote network access and data transfer solution.
Vanderbilt will use the technology to offer its user group, including over 15,000 physicians, students and service providers, the ability to access the Vanderbilt network via any device, with the highest levels of security.
NetSilica says EPN will reduce the cost of deploying, implementing and managing a secure remote access network, allowing Vanderbilt to provide the solution to a much wider base of users.
"NetSilica's EPN technology provides the ideal solution for our needs," said Dr. William Stead, director of the Informatics Center, and associate vice chancellor of Health Services at Vanderbilt University. "EPN's granular access control, SSL transport and complete logging system provide us with strong security and deliver the primary requirements of new HIPAA compliance statutes for encryption and audit control."
