TDS Telecom Introduces VPN Service
July 11, 2002 -- Telephone and Data Systems Inc. subsidiary TDS Telecom (TDSTelecom.com) announced this week that it is introducing virtual private networks as a managed Internet service designed to provide an affordable networking solution for small and large businesses.
TDS Telecom says its VPN allows customers to securely send sensitive information to or from remote locations, minimizes the expense of a dedicated network or large modem pool and reduces downtime for employees communicating from remote locations.
"VPNs allow employees at home or in the field or in branch offices to connect to a corporate network in a very cost effective and secure manner," says Vince Fumusa, TDS Telecom's VPN product manager. "Through the use of the Internet and advanced security technology, branch offices, home-based workers, traveling employees, and business partners can access vital network resources with privacy."
TDS Telecom points to the fact that a number of industries that demand the utmost in security, including government, finance and healthcare, have eagerly adopted VPN technology, attesting both to the value of the product, and to the availability of customers.
