Symantec Protects the Doctors Company Network
March 13, 2002 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Symantec Corp. (symantec.com), a leader in Internet security, announced on Wednesday that it has signed The Doctors Company (TDC) as a new customer of Symantec’s Managed Security Services and Internet security products.
The Doctors Company, based in Napa, California, is a physician-owned and -operated medical liability insurer, designed to provide medical malpractice insurance protection for doctors of every medical specialty in every state.
Provided on a subscription basis, Symantec says its Managed Security Services provide outsourced security that solves security problems, through services such as intrusion detection and response, Internet vulnerability, security policy compliance, anti-virus and firewall and VPN management, while allowing organizations to minimize their investments in technology and internal resources.
As part of the three-year contract, The Doctors Company will deploy a full range of Symantec security services, supported by the company’s Managed Security Services, to protect its Web site and network against attack at all entry points: the desktop, server and gateway. As a Managed Security Services customer, says Symantec, TDC will also receive live, round-the-clock network monitoring support to ensure both proactive and reactive protection against threats.
The Doctors Company’s choice, says Symantec, was based on a plan developed specifically for TDC by Symantec security professionals, emphasizing the seamless management and coordination of all the elements of TDC’s Internet security system.
"Just as The Doctors Company established itself as a pioneer in the field of medical liability insurance, so have they set the standard for Internet security in that industry by pursuing a truly integrated approach towards the defense of their computer network," says John W. Thompson, chairman and CEO of Symantec. "TDC is taking advantage of the full compliment of Symantec security products and services to protect its policy holders' on-line information. Symantec is proud to partner with a company that shares our commitment to customer service and we look forward to working with TDC in the years to come."
