Sygate's Personal Firewall Combined with Nortel VPN
August 22, 2002 -- Enterprise security policy enforcement solution provider Sygate Technologies Inc. (Sygate.com) announced on Thursday that it has signed an agreement with network equipment maker Nortel Networks (Nortel.com) to provide a special version of Sygate’s personal firewall (SPF) to Nortel’s Contivity VPN customers.
VPN clients, says Sygate, will gain advanced protection from hackers with a unique solution based on Sygate’s enterprise technology. SPF combines application-based host intrusion detection technology with a stateful inspection firewall to detect and block malicious agents at the laptop or remote desktop.
"We encourage all enterprises that deploy VPN solutions to block exposures of corporate information on workstations through the use of centrally managed personal firewalls," says John Girard, vice president and Research Director at Gartner. "Vendor partnerships accelerate the elimination of gaps in enterprise protection. Enterprises should expect complete protection and should look for interoperability with endpoint security products."
Available from the Nortel Web site, the special version of SPF can be upgraded to the comprehensive Sygate Secure Enterprise without redeployment.
