Stonesoft Announces Sophisticated VPN Client
August 10, 2002 -- Enterprise-level security software provider Stonesoft Corporation (Stonesoft.com) announced on Thursday that it has released the StoneGate VPN Client 2.0, designed to address the need for location-independent secure connectivity while protecting the remote device.
While conventional VPN clients enable encrypted communications between a remote device and the corporate network, says Stonesoft, the system itself is often left vulnerable to attack, which can expose the network as well. The standard solution of adding a personal firewall can have drawbacks, including additional complexity or even dropped traffic.
StoneGate says the VPN Client for version 2.0 of Stonesoft’s StoneGate High Availability Firewall and VPN solution offers a new combination of a VPN client and a location-aware active traffic filter to protect the remote device. The filter can automatically or manually configure security policies, whether the computer is connected to a corporate intranet or the public Internet. The built-in traffic filter reduces complexity for the end user.
"Enterprises have often sought comprehensive security packages," says Esa Korvenmaa, CEO of Stonesoft. "With the new StoneGate VPN client, Stonesoft takes the robust security and high availability package of its firewall and VPN solution to a new level, giving our customers an easy-to-use, remote security and connectivity solution."
