Stonesoft Announces VPN/Firewall for IBM Mainframes
May 16, 2003 -- (FIND VPN) -- Network security solutions provider Stonesoft Corporation (StoneSoft.com) announced on Friday that it has released its StoneGate High Availability Firewall and VPN solution is available for the new IBM eServer zSeries 990 mainframe.
Stonesoft says StoneGate employs a centralized management system that allows simple configuration and monitoring of multiple firewall and VPN gateways throughout the enterprise, on zSeries or Intel-based hardware like the IBM eServer xSeries. The company says StoneGate for zSeries removes the need for external firewall servers between front- and back-end applications, saving costs in investment, labor and maintenance, enabling multiple simultaneous firewalls in a virtual network environment and using the scalability of the mainframe.
StoneGate on zSeries protects virtual servers and virtual networks with firewall and VPN technology, securing data centers, z/OS applications, server farms and other mainframe computing tasks. Stonesoft says the z990 creates new performance thresholds, bringing firewall/VPN throughput to new levels.
"Stonesoft's philosophy is to create real world, simple solutions to complex problems," noted Jorma Turunen, CEO of Stonesoft Corp. "With StoneGate on zSeries we've demonstrated our ability to carry out our product vision in support of that philosophy. The new z990 can be deployed with the confidence that a secure, manageable, available and scalable firewall/VPN solution is available to run inside it."
