SSH Releases New VPN Solution
March 14, 2002 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- SSH Communications Security (ssh.com), a leading developer of Internet security solutions, announced on Wednesday that it has released version 1.3 of its IPVia Secure Network, as well as new security hardware products for both small offices and data center environments.
The IPVia Secure Network solution, previously known as SSH Complete VPN, is the company’s virtual private network product, designed to supply service providers and enterprises with an easily deployable, scalable and manageable solution for establishing secure data communications for site-to-site and remote access connectivity.
SSH says it is using its technology and its expertise in the IPSec protocol, public key infrastructure, and network address translation to expand the new generation of distributed secure networking solutions. The IPVia Secure Network solution, says the company, offers increased remote user functionality, including a full-scale certification authority, allowing for the authentication of users and gateways.
The new IPVia release also includes proxy address resolution protocol, to allow even more transparent installation into the network, and statistics monitoring through a Web-based gateway.
SSH says the announcement expands the company’s security solutions to cover a wider range of customer areas, introducing the IPVia 250 for small office networks and the rack-optimized IPVia 500R for data center environments
Also included in the release are new software components, such as the IPVia Central Manager, designed to allow service providers and enterprises to remotely manage policy and configuration updates for entire VPN networks simultaneously rather than configure individual devices, and the IPVia Smart Client, designed to allow smooth, secure access to corporate networks through an IPVia Gateway.
"These VPN solutions combine state-of-the-art security technology with new levels of convenience in deployment and manageability,” says Heli Jarvela, vice president of network systems at SS. “Administrators and service providers will appreciate the ease and reduced costs with which new networks, gateways and remote users are added seamlessly into the VPN."
