SSH Receives RSA Certification for Secure Shell Software
February 18, 2002 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- SSH Communications Security (ssh.com), a leading developer of Internet security solutions, announced on Monday that its SSH Secure Shell software has received “RSA Secured RSA Keon Ready” certification, helping to ensure its interoperability with the RSA Securty (rsa.com) Keon family of software products. In addition, SSH has joined the RSA Secured Partner Program, an alliance designed to promote integration and standards among developers.
SSH offers a range of products designed to address the critical security issues for business, service providers, financial institutions and government. Included in its line of products are its SSH Complete VPN centrally managed VPN solution, it’s SSH Sentinel remote access VPN “smart” client and the Secure Shell end user security solution.
"SSH has long been recognized as a security innovator with its SSH Secure Shell application for protecting and authenticating user information and data over the Internet and insecure networks," said Robert Pritchard, vice president of worldwide developer sales, corporate and partner development at RSA Security. "We are pleased to welcome SSH to our RSA Secured family. This alliance ensures that our products work together to help customers deploy secure, mission-critical applications and data in order to safely conduct electronic commerce."
SSH Secure Shell is a client-server encryption software solution designed to protect businesses from the most common break-in method used by hackers, which SSH calls “eavesdropping passwords from the Internet.” Secure Shell creates a secure environment by encrypting user identities and passwords as well as data content. Typical applications of the software include “lite VPN” applications, remote system administration, automated file transfers and access to corporate resources over the Internet.
The announcement extends the relationship between SSH and RSA Security established in September 2000, when RSA Security licensed SSH’s IPSEC Express Toolkit for IPSec, IKE and X.509 certificates for use in its Internet security products.
