Sprint Extends IP Network to Chile and Venezuela
August 26, 2002 -- Global communications company Sprint (Sprint.com) announced on Monday that it has expanded its global IP network, SprintLink, to Santiago, Chile and Caracas, Venezuela.
Sprint says the Latin American offering will provide local businesses with access to the company’s Internet backbone and give multinationals a reliable way to access IP services in the region.
"Sprint has been eager to expand our network footprint into Latin America," said Dan Dooley, regional president of Sprint's Americas and Emerging Markets organization. "We look forward to building long-term relationships with area businesses and bringing to bear our 25 years of global experience, as well as Sprint's 100-year heritage for providing quality services and solutions."
The SprintLink IP service offering in Latin America will include dedicated Internet access, as well as a broad range of support services, including Sprint’s IP VPN service, which lets customers use the Internet to connect employees, customers, partners and suppliers worldwide.
