SnapGear Wins Linux Journal Award
September 6, 2002 -- Firewall and VPN security solution provider SnapGear said on Thursday that it has won the Linux Journal Editor’s Choice Award for best server appliance.
The Linux Journal’s Editor’s Choice Awards are a well-known forum recognizing developments and achievements in the Linux market, says SnapGear. Products were nominated by a panel of more than 50 Linux experts. Nominations were sent to Linux Journal Editors, who then chose the winners. The awards will be featured in the September 2002 issue of Linux Journal.
"We deploy embedded Linux in all of our products," says Miles Gillham, VP of marketing for SnapGear, "because it provides the most commercially useful solution for our customers. Most of our customers don't realise that we use embedded Linux and it doesn't matter to them. They buy our products because of the features that we provide and our long experience with Internet security. In one year we've overtaken most of our competitors, some of whom have had a five-year product development head start. Now we're moving ahead of our competitors in performance and value-add yet our prices stay affordable."
