August 19, 2002 -- Internet security solution provider SnapGear Inc. (SnapGear.com) announced on Monday that it has formed a number of new alliances in North America, Europe and Japan, as well as setting up its first direct office in Europe.

SnapGear says it is seeing demand for its appliances growing quickly, with a quarter-to-quarter growth rate of 30 percent and increasing profitability.

In Japan, the company has partnered with system solution provider SMI Digital Security. As part of the deal, Snap Gear’s VPN Firewall Appliances include a user interface in the Japanese language.

Tom Takamoto, General Manager of SMI Digital Security, said: "Snap Gear products are perfect for SOHO and mid-size companies that need broadband Internet security coupled with remote access capability," says Tom Takamoto, general manager of SMI Digital Security. "With Snap Gear we find a very skilled engineering team and an amazing responsiveness to our needs. We are confident of the Snap Gear products and of the company's ability to work with us. Based on our great success with Firewall business in Japan, and combined with Snap Gear's VPN appliance, we will be able to support many more customers such as home users to mid-size companies for their network security."

In the USA, the company has made a distribution agreement with Ingram Micro, designed to tap into Ingram Micro’s channel network. In Europe, Snap Gear has assigned distributors, including NOW International in the UK, Comdec in Denmark, Peapod in the BeNeLux region, Black Box in Switzerland and others across Western and Eastern Europe.
