SingTel Launches Enhanced IP VPN Services
December 4, 2002 -- Communications company Singapore Telecommunications Ltd. (SingTel.com) announced on Monday that it has expanded its private IP virtual private network services.
The enhanced services, says SingTel, will enable network managers to prioritize traffic and utilize bandwidth more efficiently.
SingTel’s private IP VPN service is marketed in Singapore as SingTel Meg@POP, which offers Premium, Business and Standard classes of service, and in the Asia Pacific region as ConnectPlus IP VPN, which currently offers Business and Standard classes. The services are operated over SingTel’s Gigabit IP backbone and based on Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) technology.
With the enhancements, says SingTel, network managers are able to specify classes of service to optimize network performance. Network resources can be allocated to ensure critical traffic has priority over less important traffic.
"The enhancement of our private IP VPN network with these classes of service,” says Lian Bee Leng, SingTel’s vice president of corporate products, “clearly underscores SingTel's continual commitment to provide the best value to our customers. Such value-adds, coupled with SingTel's global coverage and expertise, strengthen our position to offer a full suite of business quality IP VPN solutions to suit the varied requirements of multinational corporations."
