Siemens Scandinavian Workers Use Ecutel Mobile VPN
September 18, 2002 -- Mobile VPN software provider Ecutel Inc. (Ecutel.com) announced on Tuesday that Siemens has selected Ecutel’s Viatores Mobile VPN product to provide security and mobility to the company’s 3,000 workers in Scandinavian countries.
Ecutel says Viatores will replace Siemens’ existing VPN, addressing the company’s need for secure mobility including security for wireless LAN, hot spot and wireless wide-area networks.
"Our mobility needs grew beyond what a legacy VPN can handle," says Siemens' Scandinavian chief information officer Henning Denstad. "Our workers need to roam from our LAN to the wireless LAN seamlessly and securely. When they are on the road, they need to connect to the corporate network using the best available connection including hot spots and GPRS networks."
According to Ecutel, Viatores allows mobile professionals to roam securely between LANs, wireless LANs, public networks and private visiting networks. Viatores stops the security risks inherent in wireless networks, while allowing persistent connectivity. The solution will be implemented for Siemens by HP services.
