Riverstone Delivers MPLS Network for Japanese ISP
November 5, 2002 -- Metropolitan area network solution provider Riverstone Networks Inc. (RiverstoneNet.com) announced last week that Nagano-based telecommunications service provider Densan has deployed the company’s RS family of routers to build out an Ethernet-based metro network.
Densan is using Riverstone’s MPLS technology to deliver a range of services to business and residential customers in throughout Nagano.
Combining Ethernet and MPLS technologies, Densan has built a flexible network for service delivery. It deployed Riverstone’s RS 8600 and RS 3000 metro routers with its MPLS technology to deliver bandwidth on demand, virtual private networking services and streaming media applications to customers.
"Japan's telecommunications industry is growing exponentially and to maintain service delivery integrity ahead of this growth, provider networks require a solution that can scale without degradation of service," says Andrew Feldman, Riverstone's vice president for Corporate Marketing and Development. "The scalability of the RS family coupled with Riverstone's advanced MPLS technology gives providers like Densan the power to create and deliver revenue-generating services."
