RapidStream Software Version 6.0 Released
May 11, 2003 -- (FIND VPN) -- Internet security solutions developer WatchGuard Technologies Inc. (WatchGuard.com) announced on Wednesday that it has released RapidStream software version 6.0 for the RapidStream line of high-performance, ASIC-based VPN and firewall security appliances.
RapidStream 6.0, says WatchGuard, is the brand's first software released based on Check Point Software's SecurePlatform technology, allowing it to take advantage of Check Point's hardened version of Linux, integrated with Check Point's SecureXL acceleration API and VPN-1/FireWall-1 application.
"RapidStream's support of Check Point's ultra-secure SecurePlatform, coupled with the performance benefits of our 'cut-through' intelligent ASIC architecture, underscores our commitment to delivering a solution that is unequaled in the market," said John Stuckey, general manager of RapidStream. "Enterprise-class customers can get what they need from RapidStream: the right combination of superior performance, trusted protection and value."
According to WatchGuard, the RapidStream products include the RapidCore security ASIC and use the Check Point SecureXL performance framework to allow hardware accelerators to execute security operations. The RapidCore processors provide parallel processing of VPN-1 and FireWall-1 functions, network address translation, denial of service attack protection and IP Security policies.
