RapidStream Releases 2200 VPN/Firewall
March 27, 2003 -- (FIND VPN) -- WatchGuard Technologies operating unit RapidStream (RapidStream.com) announced on Thursday that it has released the RapidStream 2200 "Secured by Check Point" VPN/firewall appliance for availability in the Americas and Europe.
Designed to assist global enterprises in securing remote and branch office sites, says RapidStream, the 2200 can also serve as a mid-size VPN concentrator. According to RapidStream, the device delivers VPN performance comparable to the Nokia IP380 for a considerably lower price. VPN-1 throughput is 120 Mbps for the $5,000 RapidStream 2200, says the company, compared to 130 Mbps for the Nokia IP380.
According to RapidStream, the 2200 integrates software from Check Point Software Technologies Ltd., and offers 200 Mbps FireWall-1 throughput, 400 IPSec tunnels and up to 8,000 sessions. The device is part of RapidStream's ASIC-based, high-performance family of "Secured by Check Point" VPN/firewall appliances.
"Now Check Point customers can have the VPN performance they need at a competitive price," said John Stuckey, general manager of RapidStream. "The RapidStream 2200 and other RapidStream 'Secured by Check Point' appliances offer a combination of quality, performance and value that gives enterprise customers an excellent alternative to Nokia."
