Quarry Selects Spirent for VPN Performance Testing
April 12, 2002 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Spirent Communications (spirentcom.com), a business group owned by Spirent plc, announced on Monday that network security solution provider Quarry Technologies has chosen Spirent’s SmartBits TeraVPN performance analysis solution to validate the performance of its iQ8000 service edge switch.
Spirent says its TeraVPN and other performance analysis systems are designed to help customers move new technologies out of the laboratory and into widespread deployment as quickly as possible.
According to Spirent, TeraVPN is a solution designed to allow users to address the operational issues related to developing, optimizing and deploying VPN links. Designed to work in conjunction with the company’s TeraMetrics platform, says Spirent, TeraVPN determines the tangible implications, including confidentiality, of VPNs on data transferred across the network.
"We selected Spirent's SmartBits performance analysis test system because it is the most powerful and versatile available on the market," says Cam Cullen, director of product management, Quarry Technologies. "With SmartBits, we can test our high-performance VPN, firewall, load balancers and switches, routers and VPN devices with one system, saving us time and money."
Spirent says a key feature of TeraVPN, designed to determine VPN tunnel creation capacity using IPSec protocols, is its ability to generate traffic over the tunnels, enabling measurement of key data performance characteristics. The product also helps identify interoperability issues by providing a bounce diagram indicating where the exchange failed.
"We are pleased that Quarry Technologies selected our SmartBits solution to test the performance of their service edge switch," said Bahaa Moukadam, vice president of product marketing for Spirent Communications. "The complexities of VPNs present unique testing challenges that, until now, were not addressed. Spirent's TeraVPN provides new and exciting capabilities that allow users, for the first time, to demystify the behavior of VPN devices and systems."
