Quarry Technologies Achieves Gigabit VPN Throughput
March 18, 2002 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Quarry Technologies (quarrytech.com), a supplier of intelligent network security systems, announced on Monday that in performance testing conducted by The Tolly Group, Quarry's iQ8000 Service Edge Switch achieved the fastest performance ever recorded in independent testing.
During the performance testing, the iQ8000 attained full Gigabit Ethernet line rate per flow, says Quarry, while running encrypted virtual private networks (VPNs), stateful firewalls and fine-grained traffic policing simultaneously, on every interface of a fully configured device. According to Quarry, no other system on the market has ever demonstrated such high performance.
The Tolly Group, a leading independent networking industry test lab, ran the tests and reported the results, says Quarry. Also on hand for the assessment were engineers from Spirent Communications, a supplier of performance analysis solutions, who assisted with test equipment. Spirent's SmartBits 6000B system equipped with SmartFlow and new TeraVPN applications was used as the primary analysis tool, says Quarry.
"Quarry Technologies' device performance was recorded up to full Gigabit Ethernet rate even while the high security IPsec standards of 3DES/SHA-1 were active." says Bahaa Moukadam, vice president of product marketing for Spirent Communications, SmartBits Division. "Enabling additional services did not seem to have a negative impact on the system's throughput."
System latency under load, tunnel setup rate, and service management capabilities were also tested, says Quarry, producing impressive results. The full results of The Tolly Group's report is available at Quarry Technologies' Web site.
