Precision CertiPro Picks SAVVIS for IP VPN
September 5, 2002 -- Managed IP and hosting provider SAVVIS Communications (SAVVIS.net) announced on Tuesday that auto parts distributor Precision CertiPro Warehouse Inc. has selected SAVVIS to provide managed IP VPN services to connect its 26 locations across the eastern US.
Precision CertiPro distributes automotive products, including radiators, starters/alternators and brake components, to a range of auto repair facilities like gas stations, dealerships and specialist centers. The SAVVIS network will deliver business applications like inventory tracking, accounting, invoicing, secure data transfers, file sharing, corporate intranet and email and Internet access.
"We're in a very different market sector, but our operations are in some ways analogous to the financial services business, where SAVVIS has historically dominated," says Precision CertiPro vice president of Operations Michael Drennan. "We're serving a diverse array of customers in real-time, each with unique demands - and those demands can change from minute to minute. A mechanic's business depends on his ability to get cars in and out of his shop as quickly as possible. Precision's ability to deliver the right parts at the right price at the right time is paramount. When we get the mechanic's call for a part, our Team Members need immediate access to the customer's account information and our inventory records."
