Perle Enhances VPN Routers
December 4, 2002 -- IP and e-business networking products developer Perle Systems (Perle.com) announced on Tuesday that it has upgraded its line of router products, adding PPP over Ethernet support and Internet Key Exchange.
With the addition of PPPoE, end users can now connect Perle routers to external DL or cable modems to use the bandwidth services offered by broadband providers today. Industry standard IKE, says Perle, allows users to automate and manage security parameters in VPN environments.
The features, says Perle, provide the company’s channel partners to deploy Perle routers into broadband applications using DSL or cable modems, expanding the application and opportunity for Perle routers into the expanding markets for DSL and cable services.
"Perle routers are now an even more attractive alternative for Cisco VARs looking for a lower cost router alternative," says Perle product manager Kevin Segriff. "Our routers with PPPoE offer the needed features in the P800 series, P1730 and P2600 series, and enjoy a sizeable cost savings."
