NTT America Installs MPLS Network for Nanometrics
August 15, 2002 -- NTT Communications Corporation subsidiary NTT America (NTTAmerica.com) announced on Wednesday that it has completed the installation of an MPLS network for metrology equipment supplier Nanometrics Inc.
The installation, says NTT, represents Nanometrics’ first international expansion, tying together three plants, five field sales offices and two service centers in the US, Japan, Korea, China and Taiwan.
Instead of managing four separate systems, says NTT, Nanometrics now has one infrastructure that allows the company to manage their ERP, CRM and communications systems. Employees operate within a secure VPN infrastructure, allowing R&D engineers to communicate quickly and cost-effectively.
"NTT America was not just the best choice, but the only choice," explains Steven Nitenson, director of global IT for Nanometrics, Inc. "We contacted numerous carriers, but NTT was the only company with the ability to provide us with the protocol and deployment timing we wanted. While other global competitors could only offer less elegant frame relay structures, NTT America gave us a sleek, end-to-end MPLS network solution for a lower cost."
