Nortel Launches Large-Scale VPN Support
May 11, 2003 -- (FIND VPN) -- Networking equipment developer Nortel Networks (NortelNetworks.com) announced on Tuesday that it has introduced new products and enhancements to security platforms designed to enable large enterprises and carriers flexibility that offer managed services greater flexibility to provide secure network connectivity.
The new solutions, says Nortel, will ease the deployment of very large site-to-site and remote access VPNs, allowing companies to link branch offices, offsite workers, customers, partners and suppliers.
According to Nortel, the solutions are part of the third phase of the company's Secure Routing Technology on Contivity rollout, designed to enable secure IP services to be deployed where they are needed, whether for branch office connectivity or to provide remote access for traveling or work-at-home employees.
"By addressing the scalability issue for very large-scale VPN deployments, we are eliminating one of the biggest security impediments for our largest enterprise customers," said Malcolm Collins, president, Enterprise Networks, Nortel Networks. "In addition to providing greater control over the security aspects of the communications infrastructure, we offer companies choice and flexibility, providing them the secure components they require to build out a secure infrastructure customized to their unique requirements. At the same time, our products are designed with security up-front, which has enabled Nortel Networks to address this key need in the market."
