Nokia Secures TI Automotive Corporate Network
July 10, 2002 -- Networking equipment maker Nokia (Nokia.com) announced on Wednesday that automotive industry parts supplier TI Automotive is successfully deploying security solutions from Nokia and partner Check Point Software Technologies (CheckPoint.com).
According to Nokia, the solutions being deployed by TI Automotive include VPN and Internet firewall equipment in order to securely link and protect over 40 manufacturing and business centers across Europe. The solution, says Nokia has contributed to a 60 percent reduction in the company’s network costs and quadrupling of its data bandwidth capacity.
"We required secure, robust and scaleable network solutions which were also cost effective at the same time," says Peter Stewart, TI Automotive business systems director, Europe. "We also needed a solution we could manage internally, and that allowed us to rapidly integrate existing and new sites. Nokia's successful formula has been implemented across Europe and will expand to Asia Pacific during the second half of 2002."
Nokia says its IP network security appliances screen data using the VPN-1/FireWall-1 product from Check Point, enabling security administrators to manage security infrastructure from a central location. The network, says Nokia, covers 24 key plants and 18 satellite offices located in Germany, France, Spain, Italy, the UK, Belgium, Sweden, Denmark, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Poland.
