OM Picks Nokia for Global Network Security
April 24, 2003 -- (FIND VPN) -- Communications technology solutions provider Nokia (Nokia.com) announced on Thursday that Swedish transaction technology solutions provider OM has chosen to secure its global network with Nokia IP network security appliances running Check Point Software Technologies' VPN-1/FireWall-1 Internet security software.
According to Nokia, the importance of security is recognized at all levels of OM. The company was looking for a stable, secure platform that adhered to key industry standards. OM also wanted a global company that could provide service around the world.
Along with global connectivity, the company required a solution that would combine firewall and virtual private network functionality as well as a fully meshed network between all offices. The aim of the network, says Nokia, was to create a global intranet, allowing workers at various offices to operate in a central, virtual workspace.
"Transaction processing, particularly in the financial industry, is obviously highly mission-critical. We have also always understood that cost control is a key element of our customers' network management needs now and in the future and we are delighted that OM has chosen Nokia," says Ernie Jones, Nokia Internet Communications vice president of sales, Europe, Middle-East & Africa.
