Nokia VPN Secures ORIX Corporate Network
April 5, 2002 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Communications equipment company Nokia (nokia.com) announced on Thursday that ORIX Ireland Limited, a subsidiary of ORIX Corporation (orix.com), a leading supplier of financial services to Japan, has successfully deployed Nokia’s virtual private network and IP network security solutions.
The deployment, says Nokia, is designed to ensure secure communications between the company’s head office in Dublin and its subsidiaries and mobile employees.
The system employed by ORIX, says Nokia, integrates firewall and VPN technology from Check Point with hardware platforms from Nokia for a fully integrated and powerful VPN solution. The system gives ORIX centralized control and management of its UK subsidiaries out of its Dublin office.
"Nokia has solved a lot of problems. There are already huge benefits for us in terms of ease of management and deployment," says Dave Fahy, IT manager ORIX Ireland Limited. "Before implementing this solution, IT requirements for each office were handled locally, but this was an expensive method of managing and securing our infrastructure. The new solution allows us to decrease total cost of ownership in companies who didn't have local IT support and allows us to share applications over a secure network."
ORIX says it was crucial that the solution be able to expand along with the company. Nokia made a point of demonstrating that its VPN system can be extended without downtime.
