Nokia Supports New Check Point Software
March 26, 2002 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Communications hardware manufacturer Nokia (nokia.com) announced on Tuesday an enhancement to the company’s relationship with Check Point Software Technologies (checkpoint.com), with the release of a solution integrating the Check Point VPN-1/FireWall-1 VSX product, also announced Tuesday, with the Nokia IP700 series security appliance.
Based on virtualization and the use of VLAN technology, the new solution is designed to allow service providers to implement dedicated or shared Internet security infrastructure based on individual customer requirements.
The product, says Nokia, will also allow service providers to target small and medium sized business customers, offering them improved cost of ownership and higher return on investment.
"Leveraging our success to date in the service provider market, we have collaborated with both Check Point and our leading customers to deliver this solution," says Dan MacDonald, vice president of product management and marketing, Nokia Internet Communications. "Our service providers will now be able to tailor best of breed security services to reach new markets, and equally as important, be able to leverage their existing investments in Nokia and Check Point infrastructure at the same time. "
Nokia’s initial integrated offering will be based on the high performance IP700 series appliance, which, says Nokia, is the ideal platform for VPN-1/FireWall-1 VSX. The single platform will provide support for multiple, separate enforcement policies.
And according to Nokia, the product will allow service providers to increase their revenue per square foot through increased customer density and the conservation of rack space, power and cabling as well as lower deployment costs.
