V-ONE Launches Mac OS X VPN Client Software
August 22, 2002 -- VPN security product provider V-ONE Corporation (VONE.com) announced this week that it has begun beta testing of its SmartPass Mac OS X client software, expecting the product to be generally available in Early September.
One of only a few companies providing a VPN solution for the Mac, V-ONE says its OS X client release is has been highly anticipated by Mac users. The new version includes many new features and a completely redesigned interface.
In addition to supporting the existing Mac OS X version 10.1, the new VPN client already includes support for the upcoming version 10.2, known as Jaguar.
V-ONE says its SmartPass client is fully native, allowing Mac OS 9 and OS X users to secure critical communications. The client runs as a non-intrusive application on the Mac desktop, supplying VPN connections to the SmartGate server software or SmartGuard appliance, and can be deployed in a multi-user environment.
"V-ONE continues to see Mac users as important factor in the marketplace," says Margaret Grayson, president and CEO of V-ONE Corporation. "Today's large organizations often employ multiple computing platforms, including Macs. Since the release of Mac OS X, there has been a noticeable resurgence in the market with user demand coming from healthcare, biotech, education, and graphics arts and design. V-ONE's goal is to provide the same secure user experience and functionality to all customers regardless of the platform. We are now ready to meet the security demands of the Mac OS X users."
