Hit Rail B.V. Chooses KPNQwest For IP VPN
March 25, 2002 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- KPNQwest, a leading pan-European data communications and hosting company, announced on Monday that it has signed a deal with Hit Rail B.V., a private IT and communications company owned by a collection of 14 European railway organizations.
According to the deal, KPNQwest will build a pan-European IP VPN interconnecting locations across Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, The Netherlands, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
The 16-country, 29-site IP VPN solution, says KPNQwest, will be used to connect all the major European railways across one scalable international network. Hit Rail B.V. will use the solution to provide an advanced all-IP platform for the support of railway freight and passenger applications across Europe. López, director of network services with Hit Rail B.V. "KPNQwest provided one unified IP VPN solution with additional flexibilities to support our current and future demands."
"The deal underscores our leadership role and commitment to provide the most innovative solutions specific to the needs of the transportation and travel industries," says Jack McMaster, president and CEO of KPNQwest. "We will continue to provide companies, like Hit Rail B.V., with unrivalled pan-European coverage and bandwidth capabilities to satisfy their high-speed data communications requirements across Europe."
