KPNQwest Introduces Online IP Monitoring Tools

March 13, 2002 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Pan-European data communications and hosting company KPNQwest (kpnqwest.com) announced on Wednesday the launch of its new Web-based network monitoring tool, KPNQwest IP Vista.

The IP Vista product, says KPNQwest, provides customers with total end-to-end network transparency. Delivered as an integrated part of the company’s IP portfolio, the service provides performance measurement tools for metrics like packet delivery, routing, ping measurements and round trip times across customers’ IP networks and site locations.

The company says the information is available to customers 24-hours a day through a password-protected Web interface. And networks statistics, such as latency and packet delivery, are compiled, calculated and updated every few minutes. The system also offers easy access to real-time statistics such as ping and trace route.

Easy access to this information, says KPNQwest, can be valuable to customers both in evaluating the company’s service level guarantees across their network and in evaluating and adjusting their service packages based on their actual usage.

The tool runs on KPNQwest’s 18-country European IP network and is interoperable with the Qwest global network, says the company. According to KPNQwest, the IP Vista tool is the first phase in an initiative to provide the industry’s leading online customer care package. By the third quarter of 2002, says the company, all KPNQwest customers will have access to a suite of online network management services that includes ordering, provisioning, fault management and billing functionalities.

"IP Vista gives us a clear global edge in terms of customer service," said Bill Fugelsang, Senior Vice President, Corporate Networks, KPNQwest. "This underscores our commitment to combining our superior coverage with unbeatable service level guarantees which are quantifiable, undisputable and delivered instantly upon request."

KPNQwest says IP Vista will also include a tool allowing users to compare the performance of the KPNQwest network with other providers in the key service level parameters of round trip times, packet delivery, utilization and routing, across the company’s global footprint.
