ionex Picks NetScreen for VPN Security
August 19, 2002 -- Security solution developer NetScreen Technologies Inc. (NetScreen.com) announced on Monday that communications services provider ionex telecommunications Inc. (ionextelecom.com) has purchased NetScreen products to provide VPN connectivity and firewall security for its corporate infrastructure.
According to NetScreen, ionex is using a NetScreen-500 as both a corporate firewall and to connect more than 20 NetScreen 5XPs located in regional offices. The company uses NetScreen Global Pro to manage its entire network, enabling ionex to distribute upgrades, policies and other changes through a centralized management system.
"We're saving money by using NetScreen and not leasing phone lines, and we are getting improved security at the same time," said Blake Kennedy, director of security at ionex. "Our overall costs are much lower, and the whole network is very easy to manage from a central location. I couldn't be more pleased with the way this solution has come together."
In addition to using the NetScreen equipment for site-to-site connectivity, ionex has deployed NetScreen’s VPN client software on laptops and PCs outside its established network, allowing remote employees to securely access enterprise data.
