Intranets.com Powers Lycos Subscription Offerings
March 19, 2002 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Intranets.com, a provider of secure, Web-based workplaces for group communication and collaboration announced on Tuesday that it has formed a partnership with global Internet network Terra Lycos (lycos.com), designed to deliver the functions of Intranets.com's intranet services to Lycos's communities and small business site members.
According to Intranets.com, the two new subscription-based offerings, Lycos Premium Communities and Lycos Intranets, are branded for Lycos and developed, hosted and supported by Intranets.com.
"Lycos is a perfect fit for our private branded intranets," said Rick Faulk, CEO of Intranets.com. "Lycos has established a large base of loyal users who, by virtue of their participation in the Communities and Small Business Web sites, have shown a need for the communication and collaboration power of our intranet service."
The Lycos Premium Communities, says Intranets.com, provide new and existing community members with an advanced set of collaboration applications including document libraries, a group calendar, member and contact databases, group polling, announcement posting and discussion forums.
Lycos Intranets will allow Lycos to offer users a private forum on the Web through which to access and exchange sensitive business information. The service includes a set of 12 intranet applications including a document-sharing library, a contact database, a group calendar, discussion groups, a task manager, and expense report application and 100MB of storage. The intranet also allows users to sync information with Microsoft Outlook and Palm devices and access information via WAP-enabled phones.
Intranets.com says it brings to the partnership its experience as the world's largest provider of Web-based intranets, with more than 110,000 business subscribers. The company's in-house support team delivers rapid response through email, live chat and phone support.
