Intrusion Unveils Internet Security Appliances

March 12, 2002 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Intrusion Inc. (intrusion.com), a leading provider of enterprise security solutions, announced on Tuesday the availability of its Intrusion PDS 501, PDS 502, PDS 701 and PDS 702 VPN/security appliances, which integrate technology from Check Point Software Technologies’ (checkpoint.com) subsidiary SofaWare.

The new PDS appliances, says Intrusion, are based on the SofaWare S-box hardware and pre-installed and pre-licensed with one of Check Point’s leading VPN-1/FireWall-1 software solutions, Safe@Home, Safe@Home Pro, Safe@Office, or Safe@Office Plus.

"Check Point and Intrusion have a long-standing relationship creating solutions that meet the needs of businesses of all sizes," says Gil Shwed, chairman and chief executive officer of Check Point Software Technologies. "With Intrusion's new PDS appliances, small and medium businesses can now take advantage of Check Point's market-leading enterprise-class Internet security to ensure the integrity of their Internet connections and the critical information on their networks."

The solutions, says Intrusion, are designed to meet the needs of small and home offices, as well as enterprise remote and branch offices, which often require a low cost, all-in-one solution designed to accommodate growing security needs.

Intrusion says its new security appliances are well-suited to meet the needs of this market segment. The PDS 501 firewall solution for offices or homes with up to five nodes includes Safe@Home and is priced at $299. The PDS 502, which adds remote office to headquarters VPN capability to the five-node office or home, includes Safe@Home Pro and is priced at $399. The PDS 701 and 702, scheduled to be available in May, include the Safe@Office and Safe@Office Plus for 10 or 25 nodes and support for site-to-site and remote access VPN and firewall and are priced at $599 and $1,199, respectively.

"Intrusion Inc. has been focused on the service provider and enterprise super-site markets since the beginning and we have lead the industry in providing solutions and service tuned to the needs of these highly sophisticated, operational customers," says Ward Paxton, chairman, president and CEO for Intrusion Inc. "Partnering with Check Point's SofaWare subsidiary allows us to offer ISP's a price point and management capability from which they can build a business supported by the full line of Intrusion PDS appliances, as well as offering our enterprise customers an extremely easy and low cost solution to protect their remote and home users."
