Infonet Launches Global IP Voice VPN Service
November 5, 2002 -- Global communications services provider Infonet Services Corporation (Infonet.com) announced on Tuesday that it has launched its new voice over IP service, IP Voice VPN.
Voice VPN, says Infonet, is the first of a range of IP-based multimedia services targeted at multinational clients looking to transition from circuit switched to packet-based voice services.
Infonet says its IP Voice VPN is a managed international VPN service for voice, fax and data, designed to meet the needs of medium to large sized multinational corporations. The service offers on-net VPN termination in almost 50 countries and off-net termination to over 200 countries. The optional customer premesis-based IP gateway preserves client PBX investments while providing a migration path to next-generation native IP implementations.
"The industry has clearly adopted the IP standard and Infonet's IP Voice VPN service positions us to transition our clients to packet-based IP technologies," says Anthony Dellamarna, senior product manager, Multimedia Services, Infonet. "We are able to leverage the expertise gained from six years of packet-voice deployment to serve our clients with the highest quality integrated IP packetized voice solution."
