Infonet Delivers IP VPN for DMC Stratex Networks
July 9, 2002 -- Communications services provider Infonet Services Corporation (Infonet.com) announced on Tuesday athat it has implemented a global IP VPN solution for high-speed wireless transmission solution developer DMC Stratex Networks.
The IP VPN, says Infonet, provides Stratex Networks with a fully managed communication solution, designed to deliver constant access to critical applications for Stratex employees at the company’s 26 offices and eight data centers through five continents and 22 time zones.
Stratex needed to maintain a large WAN to guarantee its worldwide sales and support personnel access to applications, even from remote locations. And the company didn’t want its enterprise applications to strain the corporate WAN infrastructure.
According to Infonet, Stratex contracted the company to complete a Network Analysis Program engagement to review Stratex’s applications and identify strategies for optimizing the WAN to support its operations. Following the review, the company decided to switch its WAN to an IP VPN.
"In our conversion from our WAN to an IP VPN, we doubled or tripled the available bandwidth of our existing connections, while reducing our costs by 50%. That's a true measure of getting value on your dollar," says B. Lee Jones, CIO and VP of information technology at Stratex.
