IBM, Check Point Announces VPN/Security Appliances
August 2, 2002 -- IBM (IBM.com) and Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (CheckPoint.com) announced on Friday that they have launched the first in a family of VPN/Security appliances on the IBM xSeries server platforms.
The IBM x330 appliance integrates Check Point’s VPN-1/FireWall-1 Next Generation, a comprehensive solution for protecting and connecting companies of all sizes. The companies say the integrated Check Point and IBM appliance is designed to deliver superior price and performance to enterprises and service providers
The product will be available in Germany exclusively through Tech Data Midrange.
"Security is a key issue for any organization connected to the Internet," says Axel Hein, project manager for business development with IBM Germany. "By integrating the Check Point VPN-1/FireWall-1 software with xSeries platforms, IBM is now able to offer corporate customers and service providers a powerful security solution for Intel-based servers."
