Funk Software Introduces Pocket PC VPN Client

April 4, 2002 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Funk Software (funk.com), a developer of Radius/AAA and wireless LAN solutions, announced this week the release of its new AdmitOne VPN Client for Pocket PC software, designed to enable handheld users to establish secure connections to the enterprise network over a wireless link.

AdmitOne VPN Client, says Funk, uses IPSec and IKE technologies to configure a secure communications channel between a Pocket PC device and the corporate VPN server. The company says the client completely protects the data being transmitted, and addresses known wireless communications security risks, such as eavesdropping and channel hijacking. Connections can be established over the Internet, or within the corporation’s wireless LAN.

"Windows-based handhelds open up a whole new world of options for computing in the enterprise, and can offer real benefits for mobile workers such as sales people, manufacturing personnel, and medical professionals," says Joe Ryan, vice president of Funk Software. "Of course, without adequate security, no network manager will deploy these devices widely. AdmitOne VPN Client for Pocket PC provides the advanced data security these managers require, while providing easy installation, simple deployment, and affordability."

The AdmitOne client is easily deployed, says Funk, and provides a high level of configuration flexibility. The client is designed to be compatible with a variety of network environments. AdmitOne supports a number of VPN servers, including those from Cisco, Nortel and Check Point, as well as many Pocket PC devices, including those from Compaq and Casio.

AdmitOne VPN Client for Pocket PC is the latest offering in the AdmitOne family of customizable IPSec and IKE security software, which includes IPSec and IKE Client toolkits for Windows and AdmitOne server for deploying the protocols in remote access, LAN-based or wireless environments.
