V-ONE Used to Expand FBI InfraGard Program
April 12, 2002 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- V-One Corporation (v-one.com), a leading Internet security technology company, announced this week that Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) has purchased 4000 additional SmartGate remote access client licenses for use in the National InfraGard Program.
Dedicated to increasing the security of the United States’ critical infrastructures, InfraGard, says V-ONE, is a cooperative undertaking between the US Government, led by the FBI and the National Infrastructure Protection Center (NIPC), and an association of businesses, academic institutions, state and local law enforcement agencies and other participants.
According to V-ONE, the InfraGard program addresses the need for national and local sharing of information in the private and public sectors.
The organiation’s objectives are to provide members a forum for education and training on infrastructure vulnerabilities and protection measures, provide members with threat advisories, alerts and warnings, ensure the protection of intrusion and threat data, increase the quantity of reports provided to local FBI field offices and the NIPC and increase interaction and sharing between InfraGard members and government agencies.
The key feature of the system, says V-ONE, is the ability for users to provide information on intrusions to local FBI offices using secure communications. The local FBI offices can use this information to launch investigations, while the NIPC uses it to assess intrusion threats to additional sites.
"The continued success of the InfraGard Program is a critical link of homeland security, and V-ONE is a critical link in protecting the open communications channels required by the program," says Margaret Grayson, president and CEO of V-ONE Corporation. "V-ONE is proud of its association with the InfraGard Program, and is committed to providing the technology solution that allows the secure sharing of sensitive information among law enforcement agencies throughout the country."
