Equant Announces Dedicated CoS for Video over IP
September 12, 2002 -- Global IP and data service provider Equant (Equant.com) said on Tuesday that it has launched its Equant Video for IP VPN service with a dedicated IP class of service (CoS) for video conferences on the same connection as voice and data traffic.
The dedicated CoS, says E quant, is designed to meet the requirements of video applications, ensuring optimum conferencing quality for corporate use. The service also ensures that video traffic does not interfere with other traffic like voice or sensitive data applications. The Equant Video for IP VPN is backed by video-specific SLAs for latency, packet loss and jitter, and supports both conference room and desktop IP video conferencing.
Equant says ten of its multinational customers are currently in the process of implementing the service.
"As global businesses increasingly turn to video conferencing as an economical and time-saving alternative to travel, Equant once again is out front delivering the tools they need," said Raoul Roverato, head of Equant Convergence Solutions. "Equant Video for IP VPN further underpins our commitment to help our customers reduce their costs and improve their productivity and profitability."
Equant now has five classes of service for Equant IP VPN, three of them covering data, one for voice and the newest delivering video. The Video for IP VPN, says Equant, is the first part of a complete set of videoconferencing services the company plans to launch later this year.
