Equant Supplies Brenntag With IP VPN

June 12, 2002 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Global IP and data service provider Equant (Equant) announced on Monday that it has signed a new long-term contract to supply the employees of chemicals logistics firm Brenntag (Brenntag.com) with secure network access through Equant IP VPN.

The customized Equant IP VPN solution, says Equant, will interconnect Brenntag sites in Europe with the e-commerce platform operated out of the company’s headquarters in Mulheim an der Ruhr, Germany. Equant says its IP VPN will provide the company with significant advantages by integrating its data communications over a single IP network. Brenntag’s workforce will have faster access to hosted corporate applications.

According to Equant, its IP VPN solution will allow Brenntag to prioritize critical data traffic using class of service and multi-protocol label switching (MPLS), allowing the company to better ensure time-sensitive deliveries and allowing its customers to make strategic decisions while their goods are in transit.

Brenntag says that among the main reasons behind its decision to use Equant’s IP VPN were the solution’s extensive global coverage and the strong service level agreements that support it.
