Equant Signs IP VPN Contract with Electrolux
May 21, 2003 -- (FIND VPN) -- Data and IP services provider Equant (Equant.com) announced on Tuesday that it has signed a five-year, $29 million contract renewal to provide Electrolux IT Solutions with a global IP VPN connecting 160 sites in 33 countries.
Electrolux IT Solutions, says Equant, is the technology arm of household appliance builder Electrolux Group. The company says its IP VPN will handle all of the group's network traffic in North America, South America, Asia-Pacific and Europe. Equant will also provide a selection of managed services, including security consulting, project management and equipment management.
According to the agreement, Equant will provide Electrolux with a single global IP VPN rather than a collection of meshed networks. Electrolux will have the ability to prioritize traffic, maximizing bandwidth use and optimizing performance of critical applications. It will also be able to efficiently integrate new services, such as voice and video for IP VPN.
Equant will monitor the network round-the-clock, providing Electrolux executives with access to real-time network performance reports through Equant's WebVision Web-based customer service portal.
"We understand how important it is for a multinational company such as Electrolux to feel confident that its worldwide network is in good hands," says Howard Ford, president of markets and sales at Equant. "Electrolux IT Solutions knows that our global MPLS IP VPN is secure, scaleable and robust enough to support the Group's growth and expansion plans, wherever that may be."
