Equant Launches GPRS Access for VPN Customers
May 13, 2003 -- (FIND VPN) -- Data and IP service provider Equant (Equant.com) said on Tuesday that it has become the first global solutions provider to enable customers to securely connect remote employees to corporate VPNs via GPRS access.
Equant says it has launched General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) Access as part of its portfolio of global data and VPN services, offering an alternative to fixed remote access. GPRS Access allows employees to connect securely to networks when a phone line is not available, at the same time offering improved bandwidth for mobile users.
According to Equant, the key benefits of the service include: a simple end-user interface, available through a variety of devices; high security and good quality of service through direct interconnections with mobile operators; simple implementation, requiring no VPN infrastructure changes; and seamless service across country borders for roaming and non-roaming users.
"Being in touch is a critical part of modern business," said Arjen Maarleveld, president of products at Equant "Through GPRS Access, our customers can easily access their business systems, even when they are on the move. This enables them to be more responsive in serving their clients, helping to improve customer satisfaction and retention, while differentiating them from their competitors."
