Equant Provides IP VPN for Hanjin Shipping Sites
January 14, 2003 -- Global data and IP services provider Equant (Equant.com) announced on Tuesday that it will implement a unified communications network for Hanjin Shipping, bringing together the company's more than 100 offices throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia-Pacific.
The contract was awarded, says Equant, by CyberLogitec, an information technology subsidiary of Hanjin Shipping.
Equant will interconnect Hanjin's sites using its MPLS-based IP VPN solution, which provides a platform for convergent services like voice and video for IP VPN. Hanjin will use the Equant IP VPN to customize business-critical applications like i-plaza groupware and New Information System.
According to Equant, it has been supporting Hanjin's communications requirements since 1996, implementing data network services between its headquarters in Seoul, Korea, and 12 other locations, including Singapore and Shanghai. The new agreement marks the first time Equant will deploy and manage Hanjin's European communications network.
"We are pleased to continue our successful partnership with both CyberLogitec and Hanjin and look forward to building an even stronger relationship for the future," said David Nishball, Equant's senior vice president, Asia Pacific. "This latest win highlights Equant's position as the leading data and communications provider to the world's top shipping companies. Equant IP VPN helps our customers maximize productivity and efficiency by enabling secure, cost-effective communications and collaboration between different offices and regions."
