May 11, 2003 -- (FIND VPN) -- Internet telephony services provider ePHONE Telecom Inc. (ePHONETelecom.com) announced on Friday that it has made arrangements to merge with satellite broadcasting company Champion Teleport in order to focus on the growing markets in broadband and VoIP services, and introducing VoIP to broadband wireless and Wi-Fi providers via satellite.
The companies say the merger will create a new broadband network with global coverage, as well as strengthening the offerings of both companies and enabling the introduction of new services. ePHONE and Champion Teleport say the combined company will be well positioned consolidate markets for wireless broadband and packet-voice, which include 1,800 wireless ISPs in the US alone.
